A response essay after watching the movie "Brave"

"Brave". I thought about what this movie was going to be about, before I watched it. Now that have watched it, I surprised myself because the movie was good and it impressed me with fantasy and unbelievable things. The movie was predictable, yet, every time something happened my eyes grew big.

This movie is about  the main character, Merida, trying to change  her fate and the process of the mother's and daughter's relation and healing. As Merida tries to change her fate, her  mom turns into a bear. Merida tries everything to change her mom's back into her old self.

The first thing I was surprised about was Merida's appearance. After all, she is the princess of a kingdom. I imagined her looks to be a beautiful, clean, and all perfect. But, I could never have been more wrong. It was exactly the opposite. She had orange hair flying when she was running or doing archery, and she wore loose dress which looked fairly comfortable after I thought about it, for a long time. When I meet someone for the first time, I always look very calm. But, my real personality is so different from what people tend to assume about me the first time they see me.

Then, there is the witch who lived in the old house. I think Merida and her mom should thank this witch. It was her that made Merida's mom, Elinor, a bear. It was her that told Merida what to do. So in conclusion she was the one who helped Merida and Elinor's relationship come closer together. I wonder if the witch made Elinor a bear on purpose of by accident. Either way, the witch was a great help to the royal family.

My favorite part of the movie was when Merida lost an arrow even when she was forbidden by her mom. I like this part most because it shows almost the way I act. I don't think that many children like to listen to their parents. From my experience, I know that for sure. Like Merida, there is some urge to do something that parents don't want us to do. For example, as Merida looses another arrow, I hit my sister once more before facing my mother. I think in lots of ways, I'm alike with Merida.

This movie was nothing like the other movies I've watched. Other movies I watched are all funny, full of action, or horror movies. But, this one was a bit different. It was not too adult like or child like. It was just at the right standard. The parent-child relationship movies are common. But they're different than this one. I would recommend this movie to anyone. Children, adults, old people, all of them. But, I would like to suggest this movie especially to a whole family to watch. Because it is about family relationships. I think I really enjoyed the movie.

  1. wow I didn't know that the good relationship between the queen and the princess was made by Merida. I think you are good at writing a response essay.
